It hit 113 yesterday. No, that's not a typo. 113. It was like moving in slow motion while being in a frying pan. Awful. Just awful.

The kid and I had a nice father/daughter day. We went downtown, saw her art hanging in a gallery, had lunch, went to a record store she frequents, little antique shopping, etc. It was a nice time. She made me dinner at her house where we just spent the evening chatting. Nothing exciting or stressful.

Today is the caves. Which will be a nice 58 degrees thank you very much. Can't wait. Heading there soon.

Friday. Only a few days left and I am back to the regular grind and back home. This has been a real treat for me. Been seeing many people, doing things, having anxiety attacks, getting overwhelmed at the stupidity of my fellow humans, you know, the regular.

Got up and left early yesterday. Very glad I did. It was 107 here and I managed to get into town before the horror really hit. Went to the kid's house and spent time with her. I am really proud of the life she has made for herself and the space she has created. Lots of art on the walls, a dog, cats, the snake, and just a good home life. She has her own office space and I got a chance to see her do her work. I was swelling with pride on this. Just made me feel really happy for her. 

Around 2 I headed over to the hotel to check in and take a nap. Went back over around 6pm and made them mushroom soup for dinner. One of my best batches I feel. I enjoyed spending time with her bf. He's a smart, thoughtful guy who is doing his best. I have no issues or qualms with him at all. We took their dog to the park, got some ice cream, socialized a bit more, and then I headed back to the hotel. Was in bed and zonked out by 10:30. 

Today her and I are going downtown to just hang out and she is taking me to the gallery where her art is hanging. How cool is that? We will figure out something for dinner and the like as we go. Playing today by ear. Tomorrow we're taking a bat cave tour!! I KNOW! So cool. On sunday we're going to a farmer's market and then a lavendar farm. That will be kind of neat. 

Another 105+ day here today. Need to lather up with the sunscreen and be protected. Especially my bald ass head. Which of course won't be an issue soon enough.

Sorry today's post is late. I left the hotel early to avoid traffic and minimize arriving in the heat. I succeeded at one of those. I am safely at the kid's house and at 10am it was already over 90. Whee.

So yesterday. Absolutely nothing in the morning. Bored off my tukas the majority of the time. Finally at around 1:30 I headed to my artist. Nine hours at the shop, 7.5 hours of ink work. We were able to get both pieces 90% done and I will come back in November or so to do some final shading. Like an hour max on each piece. In total the two pieces will have taken nearly 10 hours. Without further ado:

Tada!! I was there until 11pm, had a quick dinner break. Friends stopped by to wish me happy birthday. Also a big shout out to everyone who messaged, emailed, or texted me yesterday. Much appreciated.

Now to spend time with the kid.

Happy birthday to me. Yay me.

Did a bunch of memory lane and random shit yesterday. Had Jollibee for lunch which was a nice treat. Even the fast food is better here. Had my favorite pizza for dinner. Went to an old record store which I have been going into since they opened 38 years ago. Since most stuff around here no longer exists, it's nice to see somethings still the same. Bought the kid a CD, got me a CD too. Why not. Support local business and all that. Went to the Asian store and got some snacks. Just bummed around and had a slow moving day. Was kind of nice.

Today is tattoo day!! 1pm until we're done. Pics tomorrow for sure.

I am in the Bay Area! It was a very long day of travel and I almost had a panic attack in Texas though. The number of non-mask wearing people standing right on top of each other and breathing on each other sent me into a brief spiral. I was able to hang out in the very back corner of the executive lounge thankfully but even the 20 minutes I spent at the gate was rough. Very rough. But the flights themselves were uneventful. Got my rental car, went to the store to kill some time, then checked into the hotel. After settling in to the hotel I met up with a friend for dinner. We had some wonderful sushi and spent hours just talking and catching up. Got back to the hotel around 9:30pm and went to bed around 10:30. 

Today is my no obligation day. Going to do a little shopping and get pizza for dinner. I just got off the phone with American and National and changed my home trip. I changed it so I am not driving back four hours on next Monday. Just an hour to Sacramento instead. $200 diff, but worth it. 

Time to get ready for the day of nothing!

My first travel day since March 6 2020. Holy shit. What to expect? How will it be? These questions and more will be revealed on the next episode of Soap.

Finished packing. Did chores. Played games. Went to bed at 7. Had three solid blocks of REM. Weird dreams. Anxiety dreams mostly. Floating head in one was odd.

Okay time to get ready. Leave in one hour.

This time tomorrow I will be at an airport! WOO! For one full week of out of the house!

Had a busy day yesterday. Washed all the rugs, bagged up cans and bottles, emptied garbage, swept floors, cleaned up the laundry, got rid of empty boxes, and vacuumed. All before 9am. Boo-yah. Then I played video games. Then when B got up we spent a good amount of time in the backyard enjoying the day. Our friend came over to share dinner with us. We went to dairy queen afterwards and called it a night around 10:30.

Today I check in for flight, finalize packing, and go to bed at 7pm. Oh how I have missed these days.

Only two days until I am on the road!! WOO!!

I did little to nothing yesterday. Started my vacation of right. Started a 30 hour roast. Helped B with some fish stuff. Did some laundry. Played video games. Mostly finalized packing. That was my day. Made chicken enchiladas for dinner. 

More of the same in store for today. Go me.

Here's something I never thought I'd say - I am using Edge. I am sick and tired of how much damn memory chrome is sucking up constantly. I know that sounds weird seeing as edge is chromium based, but side by side on the same sites, chrome is 20-30% more memory. So let's give edge it's day in the sun. Why the fuck not.

I am officially on vacation bitches. I finished another class yesterday around 3. The next one on my list is a bear and will take at least three days to record. I decided nope, not going to start it and then let it sit for two weeks. So I am taking one additional vacation day. Buh-bye. Plus my voice is trashed from all the non-stop recording and I do need to rest it.

Got a manicure yesterday. My first in salon one since 2018. Yes, that long. I was a bit disappointed. Not in the manicure itself, which was fine, but more in the shop. I don't like shops that are just sterile Vietnamese girls that I can't understand. I wanted a shop with energy and fun like the one I would go to in WA. When I did my research I *thought* that's what this one was. The pics of the shop and the video they had online from the owner all showed a variety of people working their, music in the background, etc. Well either they changed owners or this owner got her friends to be in the pics and video because the shop itself was nothing but a typical strip mall Vietnamese place where, oh look, I couldn't understand a word the girl was saying. Good times. 

B made meatloaf for dinner. We watched some TV together. Did laundry. 

Three more days until I leave. Tomorrow I will do final packing and be ready to go. So excited to get the fuck out of here.

Welcome to July. Almost my birthday. Almost time to go on my trip. Almost almost almost. For someone with no patience, this is the hardest part - waiting. 

Recorded over 150 slide audio files yesterday. I just cranked through. I have about 30 demos to get through today which should take me about 6 hours. Then I will be done with yet another class. If I finish, I will start my vacation early since I won't be able to accomplish much tomorrow.

Had leftovers for dinner. Watched TV. Went to bed.
