SO close to being done in so many rooms. We worked hard yesterday. Didn't go to bed until almost 1am. Then I tossed and turned because I was overly tired and knew I had to be up to check in for my flight and wake B up. B has to drop a friend off at some thing this morning and she ended up spending the night. Our first overnight guest! Whee!
Our big adventure was to IKEA in the morning. Okay, I have never seen an IKEA that dead in my life. I have to remember, I am in the midwest now. Specifically in an hour where people work blue collar jobs. You don't go out at 10am on a Friday to the store. When we went grocery shopping the other day I saw it too. Old people and women were the predominant customers at 11am at the grocery store. You forget that's how it was for most people. We ended up getting B a work surface for sewing and cutting, plus a cabinet to put all her stuff in. While she worked upstairs, I worked down. I rearranged the basement (again), setup all the bookcases, and focused on my office. I am finally fully packed. Thank god as I leave in less than 24 hours.
Got home and begin assembling her new stuff. Didn't finish until after 5pm. I needed to start dinner as her friend was coming around 6:30.
We both shifted gears after we got dinner simmering and tackled the living room. We have our tree up but no place to put some of our stuff. One shortcoming of our place is no mantel on the fireplace. We have a gorgeous stone fireplace, but it has no shelf. Have to add one. Without it though, or a bar shelf to the kitchen like we've had, we don't have the space to put many of our decorations. We had to bust through those boxes and make room.
Got everything done, B's friend arrived, we had dinner, then they hung out in B's office while she put stuff away and I went down in the hole after cleaning the kitchen. Got a lot done working down there by myself. Am very happy with the progress. I have a massive amount of closet space. No more shoving things in drawers. I have room! Amazing. That makes me happy.
That was the night. Unpacking, chatting, and eating. Guess what? Pretty much the same today except and early bed time as I leave at 3:30 for three weeks of adventure. Here we go...
