Yesterday turned into a very long day. It started at 4am because I got up early for my eye exam. I was at the eye doctor at 7:30, inside at 7:50. Of course I didn't get seen by the doctor until 8:20, but you know, doctors. Everything looks good with my eyes. Slight change in cornea shape making for an adjustment to my astigmatism numbers, but they are healthy and otherwise look good. No pun intended. Was out of the doctor by 9, and back home by 9:10. Settled in to do some work.
Got some work done on my next webinar. Outlined the presentation, and set up a meeting with my coworker for today to go over the demos. We also finished decorating for our friend's birthday. He came over around 12:30 to drop his cat with us for a couple of days while his apartment is being inspected. He was very touched by all the decorations. The plan was for him to come back later in the evening for dinner, cake, and movie.
While we waited for him to come back, I decided to work on finalizing B's birthday trip. Our first stop is the Cincinnati Zoo and I wanted to do a private giraffe feeding session. Unfortunately they don't start that until April. So I worked with the manager of the Behind the Scenes group to find an alternative event. We will now be painting with goats. Yep. Goats will paint us a one of a kind piece of artwork. Very cool. With that done, I decided to buy our Dollywood tickets. And that's where it all fell apart. Thanks to COVID, they've closed Dollywood for Jan and Feb. Motherfucker. We ended up completely restructuring the trip. We're now going to the zoo, then heading straight to TN, going to the aquarium, then on the way home stopping through Lexington KY and having a BBQ dinner on a ranch (private dinner) with, you guessed it, more goats. We shaved one day off the trip, are now going to OH, TN, and KY, but everything is confirmed, reservations adjusted, and most of it paid for in advance. Less for me to worry about.
While dealing with all that, our friend came back over and for his birthday dinner he explicitly wanted grilled cheese and tomato soup. I can handle that. We took care of that and then brought out the cake:
B did a killer job with the cake. Such a natural talent. We had cake, watched a movie, went to bed. Long day with a lot going on. But at the end of the day everyone was happy and our friend really appreciated everything we did for him for his birthday.
Today is recording and demo work. Shouldn't be too stressful. Four days until new hair. I can't wait.
