Yesterday was a never ending day. I didn't go to bed until 3am. I wish it was because of fun or enjoyable reasons. Alas, it was because of hellish reasons. Let's see if I can put this day into some semblance of order.
Got up, started class. Another full class. Another class where 2 or more people were late. I am getting real sick and tired of this. Don't tell me to just start without them either. You know what kind of whining and bitching I would hear if I started class without these people? Not to mention having to repeat myself because they missed something in the first ten minutes. Fuck that. By the time I started class I was already perturbed. Then I had at least two idiots on class. JFC. This was the week of idiots. I should mention, I haven't taught this series of classes in a while because our other instructor has been doing them while I am on the road. I do these ones for groups, but I haven't done public ones like this in months. The public classes I tend to do these days are more hard core and the students typically are of a higher caliber because they have to be in order to be in the class. I had forgotten the level of student who takes these classes. F.M.L. I did manage to get through the day a little early, but it was a struggle.
At lunch, I spent the entire time prepping for what was to come after class. I needed to pick everything off the floor so we could do the flea treatment to the carpet. That meant presents, furniture, everything under the bed, etc, had to be up. I spent my entire lunch doing that.
Class ends and I fall down on the couch for 30 minutes. A whopping 30 minutes. At 4:30 I start treating the carpets. It takes me about an hour to get everything done. At this point we need to leave the house. Off we go to the mall. We are scheduled to meet some friends for dinner at 8 and B needed a new suitcase so we decided to kill time doing that. THAT turned out to be great. She got a 21" American Tourister for 60% off. Regularly over $250, I got it for $109. Nice. While we were in the store, I went into menswear. I have needed a new pair of grey pants and found not just pants, but a whole suit for $129. Grey sharkskin. Tie, jacket, and pants. 50% of regular price. Score. But that wasn't the best score. My vacuums have been having issues. My stick one (about 5 years old now) just doesn't suck like it used to and it's a stick. It's mean for small pickups like cat food spills in the kitchen. I also have a canister but it's in need of serious repair work. It's almost 10 years old and has a short in the cord, a broken belt on the head, and could just use a service. But it's a Miele and trying to find a service center is a pain. Not to mention, it's a $100 minimum just to drop it off. Hence why we have been using the stick. Well, for giggles we went into Sears to look at current ones. I swore I would not replace mine unless it was as good or better. Good luck since my canister was $1100. That means either another one in that range, like a new Miele or a Kirby or Oreck. Or I come down a little into the Dyson range, but the Dyson's are still $500 up. They happened to have the DC39 Animal on display. Seems that Sears is discontinuing it because it isn't selling at this store. It's regularly a $500 vac. The last one, the floor model, complete with everything, was being offered for $175. Done. Ours. Christmas present to both of us. At that price, until I can fix my Miele it's perfect. We were so excited to use it.
We met our friends for dinner at Texas Roadhouse, had a great time, then went across the street to WalMart to get stuff for the house and for tonight. We are hosting a Festivus celebration at our house tonight with two other couples. This will be fun. We were both getting tired but we knew we still have to go home and put things away. We got home around 10 and as we were bringing things in the house, B drops a jar of pasta sauce on the ground right in front. Ugh. Glass and sauce everywhere. I go and clean that up, then finally we put things away. Mind you, the house is still a disaster because everything is off the floor. We then start part two of the flea treatment. Neither of us realized it took two hours to do. Fuck. We have to let this sit until 12:40am. Sigh. Okay. So we wrap presents, do dishes, start all the laundry that needs to go for the flea stuff (cat bedding, blankets, etc), and wait. Before you ask, yes we wrapped the suitcase. Um duh? Side note, there are 127 presents now currently under the tree. Yay consumerism!
At 1am, we finally have everything done, off the floor, and we are good. The new vac has been used and brought tears to both of our eyes. It's incredible. Happy but tired we start to go to bed. Nope. Fucking cat has pissed all over the bathroom floor. MOTHERFUCKER. Exhausted, I then have to wash the floor, the mat, and clean up the mess. All said and done, I didn't get to bed until 3 because of the cat.
Today better be less stressful or I will snap.
