We had a great adventure yesterday. The kind of thing I want us to be doing now that we have moved. The kind of thing that one can do when it's not 110 degrees outside. Where there are actual things to do that don't require an hour plus drive sitting in traffic in the heat. We got to live like I want us to yesterday. It wasn't anything super exciting, but it was fun as hell.
I got up and meandered for a while. B got up around 10 and we headed out around 11. I have been wanting to check out some of the cheese shops here and we found the greatest cheese shop yesterday. Name "The Cheese Bar" it was wonderful. They have over 200 cheeses they rotate through during the year and there were at least 50 to choose from yesterday. It was a lovely drive to where the shop is located. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold. We got there a little before noon and I sampled about 6 different cheeses before settling on two. We also had lunch there. Wow. I had their backed mac and cheese with a side salad and B had a ham and cheese panini with tomato soup. For dessert we shared their cheesecake. Incredible. It was just so pleasant and nice and a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. Best part it was dead. There were only two other tables with people. Compared to how most places get on a Sunday this made me happy.
We got back and B napped. I went for a nice walk and when I got back I napped for about 45 minutes. We hung around and then decided on dinner. With all the leftovers and what not we ended up making chicken fajitas. Last night was the UK premier of Downton Abbey which I got for us. We ended up watching over 2 hours of it because we re-watched the last episode of season 5 to make sure we were up to date.
When it was over I played a little Diablo while B read and then I went off to bed around 10:30. A really nice day. Days like this are why we moved. Two weeks down and still feeling good. Not going to romanticize - we are frustrated with the neighbor across from us who plays his music too loud, we don't like the traffic speeding down the street outside, and small things like that. But at the same time, the area, the weather, and the people we have encountered (outside mr. noisy) have all been wonderful.
I also worked with a new insurance agent this weekend who was excellent at responding and getting things done. As of today I am fully covered in OR. $8 price difference between here and CA but okay. When you add up everything we have saved with no sales tax, I can handle the extra $8. You don't realize how big a difference that is until you step back and do the math. On every purchase 9% is just not there. We have easily saved over $100 since moving here in two weeks. Easily. Might even be closer to $200. I am going to get spoiled and cranky when I travel.
Today is trip prep day. Need to research a couple of things for my Weds/Thurs class. Fly out tomorrow. Need to check in for my flight in 45 minutes. First week on the road from here. This should be fun?
