I hope that in my lifetime I get to see, not necessarily the elimination, but changes to our capitalistic society. I hear people complain like this is a new sort of thing, but it's not. Things have been progressing towards the shit show they are today for 30+ years. It's just that we have reached critical mass. The exploitation of human capital has become so widespread and normalized and that's the problem. What am I rambling on about? I don't know. Just that I am tired of being called 'divisive' and 'not a team player' when the truth is, the things being asked are more akin to slavery and are wrong. Both B and I worked until 8pm last night because, well I don't know why to be honest. But it annoyed the fuck out of me. At least she is getting an hourly billable rate. Side note - we have asked her to help with some stuff because our current firm is charging us $100 an hour to do some stuff. We are paying her $30 to start, $40 once she is up to speed. Now I know you're thinking how can we get away with using her for 1/3 of what we are paying right now and it's simple. For her skills and geographic location, that's still 2-3 times what most people around here make. People here don't see that kind of hourly rate until they have reached an expert level at their craft, if ever. She has to be very careful when talking about what she is getting around her friends who make much less. Heck, the one friend I like who has busted her ass to get the promotions and standing at her place, makes barely $13. But still. It's exploitation of resources to make me, the salaried employee, work until 8pm on something that isn't even that fucking important at the end of the day. Fuck them in the ear.

B also is back on the rocks with her mother. This time I don't think it will heal. Her mother asked her to go to a therapy session with her and it turned sour quick. So much that B walked out before it was over. Her mother expected B to play nice and she didn't.

Fuck playing nice. No matter what it is.

We watched Detective Pikachu last night. Cute AF. Loved it. Worth the 90 minutes of your life.

Today I am only working up until about 1pm. I am on the road all next week so fuck them.
