Y8 D103

LONG day yesterday. Didn't get home until around 11:30pm from being up at 6am. We got up, had breakfast, then did a little last minute tourist shopping. We spent way too much on this trip, but whatever. I am a bit stressed out, but we get paid in three days. I can handle it. Not happy mind you, but we can handle it. We couldn't get to the ferry too early but we needed to be there early enough to get through customs and loading. We ended up leaving the hotel at about 11 and getting into the ferry line at 11:15. I am so glad we did. Turns out the ferry was sold out for two days straight. People were parking at 3pm for a first come spot on the 5:45am one today. We were at the front of the lines, but we were by far not the first ones there. We were able to leave the car though and go walking. We just had to be back by 1:30. Got back around 12:30.

At 1:30, officers walk up and down the line checking IDs and asking questions. You then take a slip into an office where you answer more questions. Fucking American border patrol is ridiculous. If you idiots elect Trump this will be even worse. Finally got on the ferry at 2:45 and they jammed everyone tight. We almost couldn't get out of the car.

The ride wasn't too bad. We talked to a nice Canadian woman the whole time which made it go by much faster. Didn't see any whales although someone was saying there were a couple. We hit shore a 4:40, and by the time we were off and through customs, it was 5:15. We decided to stop in Forks on the way home because B wanted to see it. For those who don't know, it's where Twilight is set. Sigh. I know. She took pictures, we ate dinner, and then drove back roads for what felt like forever. It was dark and rainy. We didn't connect to the main freeway until after 9:30pm. One thing we did do was drive through my dad's town and I showed B where he lives. Apparently he has a cow now. Okay. Oddball.

Rolled in late, unpacked, and crawled into bed at 12:30. This is why I took today off. Right now I have bills, organizing, and possible bed purchasing. I have a few emails to catch up on and that should be about it.

It's raining and cold here which is not a bad thing.

Side note - yesterday marked one year since we officially moved. Best damn decision I ever made. This has been one really good year.
