Y6 D155

We shopped the shit out of Vegas yesterday! Plus B got to see some sights, I did some work, twice, and every one was happy.

The day started off going down to breakfast and not being happy because there were way too many idiots and children down there. It was around 9:30 and since it looked like a lot of people were checking out, they weren't being too quick to refill some of the empty stuff either. But mostly it was the annoying people. We drove over to the Luxor where the poster was, took care of that. It will be shipped to our house and arrive some time next week. This is fine as B will be home all next week while I am in Texas. No issue.

Since the Luxor and Mandalay our connected, I figured I would take care of getting my badge. I expected a huge line but amazingly enough they had so many registration booths AND they had an excellent system setup for getting your badge, that it took five minutes. Literally. Scan a QR code, confirm my ID, get handed a backpack, a stack of books, and my badge. Done. We brought all that back to the hotel and headed out to the strip. We were able to take a shuttle from the hotel and the driver was hilarious. Old retired cop from NYC. He had comments that's for sure. Best drive on the strip ever.

We went to Caesar's first and explored the Forum Shops. Had lunch at Carmine's which resulted in a ton of leftovers. Fantastic lunch, but not for 2 people. It's family style and our lunch could have fed six easy. Oy. We stayed in there until about 2:30 and headed back to the hotel. I needed to be ready to go do some booth work. At 4 I got a panicked phone call from one of our folks. She was stuck at the airport and needed someone to attend a mandatory vendor setup information meeting at 4:30. I was planning on being there at 5, and it was already 4:08. At first I was confused why she was at the airport as she had arrived yesterday. But I didn't have time to ask her, I agreed to go to the meeting and rushed over to the Mandalay.

The meeting was bullshit by the way. It was the IBM person in charge of the venue going over wifi, security, etc. Since most of the people in booths are sales or marketing people, it was also about how to use the lead guns and similar. BORING. When the meeting was over I called her and first, explained we weren't staying at the Luxor like everyone else. She didn't realize this. She didn't think it would be a big deal for me to get there since it's a 10 minute walk from one end to the other. I'm like nope, I had to drive. She apologized and said she wouldn't have sent me if she knew that. Whatevs. I needed to know why the hell she was at the airport! Here's the story - the printer fucked up and sent a bunch of our materials to her house in CO instead of to Vegas. Her husband works for Southwest and I guess has enough pull that he was able to put it on a cargo plane inbound for Vegas. The plane unfortunately was delayed so she was stuck waiting. All good.

I then did the rest of my booth stuff, got B, and we went off in search of dinner. Everything was obviously packed and a frustratingly amount of time later, we ended up at In n Out. It's across the street from our hotel and actually really hit the spot. We ate in bed, relaxed, and crashed out around 11.

Today is my big day - in the booth from 12 until 6ish giving multiple presentations followed by dinner at Linq. I have about a 10 hour day ahead of me once it starts. Ready set go.
