Having serious trouble waking up right now. I needed the sleep, that's for sure, but I tossed and turned during the night, dealt with heater issues, and had a rough night in general. Which is causing me to really struggle this morning. I need to leave in about 75 minutes so I need to fix this quickly.
Yesterday was a travel day and not very exciting. Left the house around 2:30, got to the place where I have been leaving my car around 3:20. Had about 30 minutes to kill and talked with my friends. I did learn something really neat while I was waiting for the car. I learned how to clean up my Gmail inbox big time.
See I use labels - a lot. I have tried using the 'inbox' feature and even the app but I don't like their groupings. "Promo", "Social" none of those work for me. Well if you go to the gmail labs tab under settings, there is a new one called 'multiple inboxes'. You can define an inbox which can appear above, below, or to the right of your current, that is based on any valid gmail rule. I ended up using label:xxxxx has:red-star (blue-star,yellow-star, etc) and then archiving the original message. What I ended up with was the cleanest, well grouped mail interface ever. And that was the most exciting thing to happen to me yesterday.
Got my first flight, no issues. Got to DFW and checked the board. There was an earlier flight by 90 minutes close by. Okay, why not. Let's try. I go and get on the standby list and wait. They are up to group 3 when she calls me up. "I don't have anything yet, but if you hold tight I should". No, I don't want to wait. "No, you misunderstand, I will have a 1st class seat if you hold on". Oh. Duh. Okay. So not only was I 90 minutes early, I got my upgrade. Yay me!
When I arrived at Austin since I was early my car wasn't ready and I had to wait in line, but whatever, I was early. Got to the hotel which was dead since it was a Sunday and got all checked in. Caught up on email, tumblr, etc and then went to the steakhouse for dinner. Came back, watched two episodes of Constantine, fell asleep.
Whee.
