I have been up for a while but am moving kind of slow right now. Also I am typing this on my new laptop. Yes, I finally got a new one after five years, but not by choice really, more by necessity. My old one yesterday morning blew another screw and this time some smoke came from the battery. I immediately pinged my boss and got approval for a new one. It was not an option any more. Here's the basic specs:
15-inch: 2.5GHz with Retina display
Specifications
- 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
- Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
- 16GB 1600MHz memory
- 512GB PCIe-based flash storage
- Intel Iris Pro Graphics
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB GDDR5 memory
Not too bad eh? Just over $3000 with tax and 3 years apple care warranty. This should last me a while. Here's how the morning went; pinged my boss, waited for responses as we went over options, had breakfast, placed the order, then headed to the mall with the apple store. By the time we got there it was around 11:30 and again because of the holiday, it was packed. Took almost 40 minutes to get a laptop that was already done and paid for which was a pain. By the time it was over, we managed to look in a couple of stores, but B was getting a migraine. Back to the hotel we went. She immediately crawled into bed and close the curtains. Thank goodness for black out curtains. I went to work on setting this thing up. I am not done yet, but it had a ton of updates to do including Yosemite. On the hotel's network it took forever. But I managed to get the basics installed, mail configured, and obviously chrome setup as I am typing this on it. I am going through app by app to see what I really need and don't need to be honest. I don't think I need to migrate everything over since that thing is 5 years old.
When B woke up around 6, she was feeling better. We headed back to the mall because she wanted to get something she saw earlier but didn't have the energy to look at. We went to Wet Seal, Ruby's Diner for dinner, CVS, and then right back here. Even that was overwhelming for her.
We came back and relaxed. I bought hair dye at CVS and we did my hair. That was our big evening. While we are both happy to be at the park, we are also just enjoying doing nothing. It's been a while since we had just a relaxing time. I lost last Saturday to travel and I am losing this Sunday to travel so, screw it. I need some time for me.
Today is Princess Breakfast. I am really hoping the park has calmed down.
