Y5 D25

Yesterday was fun and boring at the same time. We spent all day at the partner's office and it was a LONG day. We got there about 8:15 and didn't leave until 4:30. They did feed us well - breakfast was pineapple pancakes, chorizo hash, scrambled eggs, and fruit. I think there was even more, but that's what I ate. Then for lunch a build your own taco bar from Rubio's that had shrimp, fish, beef, and veggie options. That was all during the day at the office.

The meetings themselves? Eh. The first half of the day was too focused on selling the product instead of using and configuring the product. They made this a joint technical and sales partner meeting which means that for the first half of the day a good portion of us were bored silly. Some of the tech folks will also be selling it, but for the most part we would come in AFTER the sales cycle. I did get something out of the use case study portion of the morning, but the hour long session on 'closing the deal' was beyond boring.

The afternoon was a little better as we broke out into the two groups. But it was way more than enough time for what was planned. Also, no written material, no handouts, no demos to follow. All lecture with a little bit of hands on. I am hoping today plays out differently. This company could really use a director of training. Hmmm....

We left and headed back to the hotel. Around 6:10 they had a car pick us up and take us to dinner. Dinner was AWESOME. Until of course I realized we were right across the street from a hotel/bar that X2 and I used to frequent. It took me a minute but I looked around where we were and it dawned on me how much time I had spent in that exact area. Son of a bitch. Oh well. Dinner was:

Japanese clam chowder
Crab cakes in a tarragon remoulade
Ahi done perfectly
creme brulee

Acceptable. Plus free booze. Yeah, not complaining. The car picked us back up at about 9:30 and we headed back to the hotel. Talked to B for an hour and then hit the sack.

Today I have another day of training, then I drive to the next hotel where I am doing training from 7-3 the next two days. Then I finally go home. Hopefully the car will be ready.
