Well, first pay period of 2020 and no raise. No bonus. Hell, I found out yesterday our big boss sent my coworker 3 lbs of bacon. Confused the fuck out of her. I explained that maybe he was trying to be clever because she is always "bringing home the bacon". She laughed and said that probably is it but it doesn't beat a fucking raise. I agree 100% with you on that. I did send my boss a snark filled message this morning after seeing my paycheck. Let's see what comes of that. Nothing probably. As usual. See the rock and the hard place for me is that while I do need some kind of increase (haven't had a COLA in years), it's not like I will find a whole lot of jobs here in MI that will pay me CA salaries. If I switch jobs I have been seeing 10-20% LESS for pay in most cases. Unless I can find a senior management position. But then I will end up working 70 hours a week and commuting like all these other schlubs. See? Rock. Hard place. Sigh.
Worked more on my new class yesterday. Got up late as you know so I worked late. Had dinner, went to bed. See, here's another reason why I need just a modest raise. I need a couple hundred more a pay period so we can get a second car. B took eggs out to her friend (axolotl eggs, not like store eggs) and was gone until 8pm. What could I do? Fucking nothing. Sit in the house and wait for her to come home. Couldn't go for a walk anywhere because it was 20 degrees and raining/icing outside. So I sat. In the house. Again.
Fuck. What a shitty way to start the day. Fuck this.
