Where do I start this morning? With my hangover? B being mad at me? The most incredible restaurant ever? Or that we lost yet another musician in his 60s? Let's go with the last one first. Glenn Frey, dead. What a sad fucking piece of news. We all love to hate the Eagles. They are good music that you've heard way too many times but you still find yourself singing along when it comes on the radio. They are the California vibe. So sad that one of them is gone. Lately it feels like a whole lot of crossroads deals are coming due at once. Stop it please.

Now as to the hangover...

We all went out in the morning around 10 to Best Buy. The kid got a new laptop as a Christmas present. She needed a new one for school and we narrowed it down to a 17.3" HP with 6gb of memory and a 1tb hdd. Not bad for under $400. We didn't set it up yet, but did get it charged. After class today we will set it up.

When we got back, her and I walked to the train station and headed downtown. Our plan was to go to the bookstore then have the cheese bar for dinner. The first part of that went as planned. We went to the bookstore, hung out, walked around downtown for a while, then headed to the cheese place only to find they were still on winter hours, which means closed on Mondays. Motherfucker. We ended up at this nice hotel bar where we had a couple of drinks and snacks. After leaving there around 4, we ended up at The Whiskey Library. 1600 unique bottles of booze. No tables like a regular restaurant. It is literally set up like a library with chairs and couches and small tables. The bartenders wheel a cart over to your table and make your drinks there. We spent 3 hours there having small plate after small plate. We had duck fat popcorn, beet cured salmon, cod fritters, homemade sausage, madelienes, and way too many absinthe cocktails. We headed out around 7, got on the train, and drunkenly rode home. Got off the train around 7:45 and walked home. B was not happy with us. We were loud and drunk and goofy. She doesn't deal well with drunk people. She got very quiet and cold towards us. The kid passed out on the couch like immediately. I managed to last until 9:30 before I passed out. Not sleep, pass out. Hence the hangover.

She was also having a rough time because her stepmom took a turn for the worse and ended up in ICU last night. I don't know the current status but it is looking kind of scary. Being drunk I was not the best husband last night to give comfort either.

Now today I have to teach. Brand new class. This should be fun. After class we may head to the mall.
